“My passion is to help creative people organize their thoughts and ideas, break down boundaries, navigate legal problems, and excel in business so that they can focus on what they do best, which is making art.”

Founder of Dani Oliva Music Consulting | Lawyer

Dani’s passion for music and entertainment developed at a very young age. Dani grew up in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and loves his Canadian roots.

As a young transgender person, Dani had trouble finding his place in the world. In his teens, he discovered the Toronto entertainment scene. He read the liner notes of his favorite records, attending art exhibitions and punk concerts at The Big Bop, discovered Wavelength music, found community at The Beaver and Glad Day Bookshop, read zines, participated in marketing efforts for labels like Sub Pop, Fat Wreck Chords, and learned first hand how art can change a person’s life.

Dani is an engaging public speaker and connects with a broad cross-section of the community.

The artistic and creative world helped him find himself and his purpose: helping creative people navigate business, break down boundaries, and create art.

After graduating from the University of Toronto, where he studied English Literature and Art History, Dani moved to Los Angeles to attend law school.

While in law school, Dani mentored and managed artists including Carole Pope of double-platinum, four-time certified gold band Rough Trade and Sumo Cyco fronted by Juno-nominee Skye Sweetnam. He wrote about music for The Huffington Post and was a legal extern at Live Nation in Beverly Hills.

With legal knowledge now in his pocket and a knack for business, Dani could actualize his dream of creating his own law practice and music consulting firm to further assist artists and musicians.

Dani founded Oliva Law Group, P.C. in 2017 and since has worked through business, legal, and administrative issues with his clients, while also providing music consulting services. Dani has assisted clients with matters including, but not limited to royalty disputes, unlawful use of name and likeness matters, breach of contract claims, copyright infringement, as well as band partnership agreements, management agreements, publishing agreements, producer agreements, label agreements, endorsement deals, business formation, and brand protection. Dani’s clients range from GRAMMY Award Winners, Billboard Hot 100 #1 charting songwriters to music merchandising companies.

In 2022, Dani received a platinum record (triple platinum in Canada) for his legal work on Ariana Grande’s 2x Grammy nominated album “Positions” on behalf of client JustAcoustic. Dani also works with  “DOMi” of two-time 2023 GRAMMY nominated “DOMi and JD Beck” signed to Eight-Time GRAMMY winner Anderson .Paak’s new label in collaboration with Universal APESHIT, Inc.

Dani also continues to artist manage, and his management company’s current clients include two-time GRAMMY winning mastering engineer Emerson Mancini.

More than anything else, Dani’s goal is to help clients define their version of success, find the resources they need, and overcome boundaries and obstacles.

When he’s not in the office, you can find Dani organizing and attending queer events for LGBTQ+ organizations and nonprofits across Los Angeles, practicing mindfulness and yoga, and in the crowd at concerts.
